Alaska Help With Heating Bills and Assistance Programs.
In addition to LHEAP and weatherization, you can get additional assistance with heating bills in Alaska.
Power Cost Equalization Program (PCE)
The PCE heating bill assistance program provides economic assistance to families and individuals that are living in rural areas of Alaska. These areas can experience kilowatt-hour charges for electricity that can be three to five times higher than the charge in more urban areas of the state. The PCE program helps to equalize the power cost per kilowatt-hour statewide by offering rural areas additional assistance.
General Relief Assistance (GRA)
This program provides many types of aid, not just heating bills. It provides for the basic needs of Alaskans that are not eligible for other state assistance programs. Some of the help that can be provided include help with rent, shelter, utilities, clothing, food, transportation, medical care and burial expenses.
Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA)
Homesense involves an energy audit and the installing of energy saving measures at no cost to Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program recipients in Alaska.
