Connecticut Homeowners Struggle With Heating Bills
Like thousands of Connecticut state residents, Stamford residents are reeling under the burden of home heating oil prices that in many cases are one-third higher than last year, and many will struggle with paying heating bills.
He is among about 700,000 Connecticut residents who really upon heating oil - that's about 50 percent of homeowners. Nearly all of them seeking ways to reduce, stabilize, or get help with their heating bills through contracts with suppliers.
"Our contracts (with customers) last year were in the $2.90 per gallon range," according to Michael Devine, who is the president of Devine Brothers Inc. in Norwalk.
This year, the price per gallon is about $4.20, Devine said.
