The Kentucky Department of Social Services Preventive Assistance Program initiative will assist individuals and families with an energy bill payment of up to $300 per family if the assistance would prevent the removal of a child from the family.
Project WARM - Project WARM plan provides free weatherization and energy saving measures to residents of Louisville and Jefferson County Kentucky. Weatherization measures provided for free will include sealing air leaks, energy education, and adding attic insulation. In addition, free “self-help” training classes on window cover installation and conservation measures are available during the winter. All of these measures can help lower heating bills.
Louisville Metro Housing (Weatherization) - This aid program will install weatherization materials for low income Louisville Metro residents.
Louisville Gas & Electric - Has the Home Energy Assistance Program. This aid will provide a year-round fixed credit for utility and heating bills. It can be used to pay past unpaid bills as well.
Winterhelp - This program helps low-income customers with paying their heating bills.
Kentucky Utilities - Home Energy Assistance customers can receive a fixed amount of $294 per year in seven monthly installments of $42 that are applied to various utility and heating bills.
Both Kentucky Utility and Louisville Gas and Electric offer WeCare. This will give families in need of help a free energy saving walkthrough inspection and energy education, as well as additional insulation and other aid.
Duke Energy - Will provide low income Kentucky households with a furnace/heat pump clean and tune, energy saving tips, energy saving light bulbs, and, if needed, additional help in the form of a hot water heater wrap, weather-stripping and pipe wrap.
Eligible Duke Energy customers in Kentucky will receive a one-time payment to help with bills from November through March
Atmos Energy - Sharing the Warmth helps people with paying their gas and heating bills.
West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation
E.N.U.F. (Emergency Needline Utility Funds) will provide aid and help with bills to those who need it.
