Neighbor For Neighbor Heat Fund - Customers from National Fuel as well as the energy company themselves and local businesses all contribute to this program. It is a donation/charity programs that will help people directly in your community, thus the neighbor to neighbor name. It helps the low income, unemployed, and other who need help in several different ways. Grants are available to help pay current or past due energy bills, prevent disconnection of their heating service, and money is also available to help customers pay for the purchase home heating fuel of any kind. The Salvation Army as well as your local Catholic Charities both administer these programs. So you can call them to apply, or call NAtional Gas and ask about it.
Low Income Customer Affordability Assistance Program - Low to moderate income eligible customers can receive discounts of up to 70% off of the regular residential rate on their heating bills. It can also help them pay older heating and energy bills.
National Fuel Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) - This is a program that can provide up to $500 to help pay heating bills, and it is funded by the federal government. Local community action agencies and non-profits in your county will distribute the grants to the low income, elderly, disabled, and unemployed in your community.
Disabled, Elderly, or Blind Payment Troubled Residential Financial Assistance - This program is also run by National Fuel and it will assist those customers who are also having trouble paying their bills. The aid is targeted at those customers and individuals who are blind, at least 62 years of age, unemployed, or disabled. Assistance is provided in the form of a debt forgiveness, lower monthly gas rate, fee waivers, conservation measures, emergency heating equipment repair/replacement, and weatherization.
